CHOICE

He wakes up everyday and immediately puts his hand on his phone with the excitement of leftover conversations of the last night to be finished this morning. Not very interestingly, he scrolls down newsfeed to discover emptiness in his life. He pushes away the uncomfortable thought of progress in his studies by listening away to his 'positive' mind. As he folds the blanket, he thinks of the change he can make in his life if he seriously focused on his studies, career. He thinks of learning anything with comfortable ease and the respect he would get if he 'studied'. Yet, he does nothing. You see, Life is a choice.

He watches Youtube 'motivational' videos and thinks casually to himself, "I already know all these. Dude, what are you teaching ME??" He also watches some short films which teach about morals, treating women equally, struggles of discovering oneself and freedom in it etc and thinks ,"How I wish I made some good short film and discover joy in it!!" And yet he silently goes inside kitchen to fetch snacks for himself and enjoy them. And he thinks, "There is time for everything, man." You see  again, Life is a choice.

To fill the emptiness in life, he texts his girlfriend who is very unsure about what their relationship is. He texts to make her and himself happy. After all, shouldn't he expect to be happy in a relationship? He realises that she is neither interested nor uncomfortable. He consoles himself  by thinking that she is busy with her own life and it is very fine to 'ignore' him. He then reads about 'matured relationships' quotes and feels happy thinking that he is part of one such. After all, Life is a choice.

He reads some interesting book which he can connect easily to. He feels very happy that there are people in the world who have a similar thoughts as his and also hopes that he would one day become very successful as them. He thinks, "Only if I put  my thoughts in a form of a book, I would also become a respected author." As he finishes reading, he just closes the book never to have the thought of writing again. You see, Life is a choice again.

He immediately finishes dinner and takes up the task of 'socialising' digitally. He continues till his dad reminds him in an angry tone about bad effects of using mobile in the dark. He reduces the brightness of the screen and gives his father 'gyaan' about Dark mode knowing very well about his dad's intention of not hurting him by speaking harsh words. He waits for sleep to come and wishes for a day where he wouldn't have to wait for it. And yet he does nothing to work on it. Hmmmm.................Life is a choice!!

He wonders, "Is there something wrong with my life or with the situations in my life?" A thought just passes by, LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT AS MUCH AS WHAT IT MAKES OF YOU.
